Dec 12th:  After 10 to 20 cm's overnight Wednesday, another 3 to 8 cm's of snow fell during the day on Friday; over the last week accumulations range from over 20 at low elevations to over 50cm's on Blueberry Hill.  The snowcat spent Thursday and Friday at higher elevations in the southern end of the system, and some trails were not fully trackset; the snowmobile groomed trails done Friday were also partially trackset. All trails north of Packers were snowmobile rolled on Tuesday and Wednesday with the exception of the northernmost section of Lodgepole where thin ice exists on the marsh area.  Packers was snowmobile packed only.

The packed base at lower elevations, including all trailheads, is still quite thin, with a much better base at higher elevations where there was already a packed base before the late November snow. Conditions have greatly improved over the last week, but a wide array of early season hazards exist on much of the trail system, including dips and uneven surfaces, possible open water and/or ice, exposed brush, and possible exposed ground and rocks. With recent and continuing high winds, downed trees are also likely, and many have been removed during grooming this week.
